Adventure in Uttarakhand

The State of Uttarakhand is vastly dominated by the lofty Himalayas in the north and the densely forested Tarai region in the south which couldn’t be less perfect for any adventure seeker. The lush green valleys, the perennial rivers flowing along the gorges, the dense forests and the snow-capped Himalayas are fraught with opportunities for adventure enthusiasts.

The Himalayas in Uttarakhand house some of the highest peaks, Nanda Devi being the highest in the region stands as a robust challenge for all the mountaineering lovers giving plenty of opportunities for rock and ice climbing. Skiing and sledging is also being practiced increasingly, Auli is famous for skiing in Uttrakhand. But, it’s the trekkers who experience heaven in this abode of Gods; the most rewarding of all is the trek to the Valley of Flowers, a national park and a world heritage site. Thus, Himalayas beautifully compliment adventure in Uttarakhand.

Uttrakhand is blessed with the Holy Rivers, Ganga and Yamuna rising from their tributaries. Their challenging course is perfect for White water rafting, kayaking and canoeing thus, helpful in experiencing the most sought adrenaline rush.

And, for those ardent wildlife seekers there are Corbett National Park (world renowned Tiger Conservation Park) and Rajaji National Park which will rope in the experience of thrill and chills inside the body. The well organised tours in the parks through jeep and elephant safaris, bonfires, camping and fishing ensure all the excitement.

Lastly, the lakes and dams encompassed by panoramic view are a great source of other water sports such as water skiing, boating and paddling etc.  So Adventure in Uttarakhand is most fulfilling with an added advantage of doing it at the Dev Bhoomi, which allows you to become both an adventurer and a pilgrim.
